Phenotyping
for All

The first
product from
ARTEMIS
Our first Artemis product, ONA, uses advanced AI to measure and analyze the physical and biological traits of plants with precision. This digital phenotyping tool empowers breeders to make data-driven decisions, identifying the best-performing varieties to meet farmers’ needs effectively.
Meet
Bruno is an innovative push cart designed to help plant breeders efficiently collect accurate phenotyping data in field trials. Built with locally sourced materials and equipped to hold two smartphones, it works seamlessly with the ONA app, leveraging AI to enhance the speed, precision, and consistency of data collection. By enabling higher efficiency and accuracy, Bruno supports the adoption and scaling of advanced phenotyping methods, empowering breeders to make informed decisions for improved genetic gains and resilient crop varieties.

Assisted
Smartphones mounted on Bruno move through a plot, taking photographs optimised to capture specific traits. This is more efficient, affordable and accurate than manual and laborious qualitative estimates.

Our
We’re innovators, problem-solvers, and collaborators at heart. Based in Arusha but focused on the Global South, we operate more like a high-tech innovation company than a traditional agricultural research institute. Our work is hands-on—developing scalable solutions, testing in the field, and learning from experts like breeders to drive real impact. We believe in bold ideas, continuous experimentation, and a culture that values teamwork, curiosity, and positive energy.

Reimagining Breeding,
Together.
We're using Participatory AI to break the phenotyping bottleneck and put farmers at the center of crop improvement—driving adoption, adaptation, and impact from the ground up.

Our
We’re proud to partner with those who share our commitment to advancing agricultural science through technology, and to shaping a more resilient, food-secure future for all.
